ABOUT THE TRIP

Just outside Fort William, near the small village of Gairlochy, lies a stunningly beautiful and peaceful gorge. This is the chance to escape on paddleboards away from the crowds, switch off for a while, and enjoy the majestic rock architecture of this incredible gorge. This sheltered river experience is perfect for those trying paddleboarding for the first time.

You'll get a safe and fun introduction to paddleboarding from our expert guides in the shelter of the gorge at the start of the trip, play some games on the journey, before just taking in the sheer beauty of this stunning place.

We offer either ADULT ONLY TRIPS (18+) or FAMILY TRIPS (min age 12)
All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian

TRIP ITINERARY
​

Meet your experienced and friendly guide at Mucomir, near the small village of Gairlochy (see map below) at the start time of your session - they'll be wearing a blue top and holding a SUP paddle!
PARKING IS LIMITED, SO PLEASE TRY AND COME IN AS FEW VEHICLES AS POSSIBLE

Your guide will give you an appropriately sized wet suit to get changed into, and changing robe. Any of your own personal clothing can either be left in your vehicle or ours, and vehicle keys and valuables will be stored in our fully waterproof cases,
whilst you go paddleboarding. -
​Once changed into your wet suit, you’ll then get a full safety briefing from our expert and fully qualified guides, and an introduction to the adventure, the equipment and how to use it all safely – the paddleboard, paddle, helmet, personal flotation device and the quick release belt for your leash.

Then it’s off onto the water, and you'll get some instruction on how to paddle the boards, starting on your knees and then standing up when you feel ready. Once comfortable, there'll be a chance for some games and challenges if you fancy.

Once you feel more confident on the board with the help of our supportive guides, it's then time to journey into this stunning beautiful, peaceful and remote gorge by paddling up this very calm river. You'll truly escape from the crowds and enjoy the awe-inspiring rock architecture. Along the way, your guides will share some natural history facts, whilst allowing you to explore the gorge safely.​​​

Before you know it you'll be travelling back down river and back at the start point with some lasting memories of a truly beautiful and peaceful location, and the epic scenery. Your Guide will also share photos with you from your adventure.

Meeting Point is on the B8004 road, next to Mucomir Power Station, near the small village of Gairlochy

Parking is limited, so please come in as few vehicles as possible

Please note, there are no toilets at the venue. Please "go before you go" at the nearest toilets in Spean Bridge.​​​​​​​​​
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU
​
-Towel for changing
-Hard soled shoes you can get wet
- Long sleeved top that can get wet for underneath the wet suit
-Suncream
-Clothes to change into afterwards
-Drink and Snack to take on the board
-Any personal medication you might need
We will provide you with all the rest of the specialist equipment for the session: wet suit, cagoule, helmet, buoyancy aid (personal flotation device), leash and belt, SUP, paddle, and dry bag for your drink and snack.
We recommend not bringing phones or electronic devices with you on the trip or session. If you choose to do so, this is at your own risk. Your guide will take photos and share these with you.
Any vehicle keys will be securely stored with your guide in a fully waterproof case whilst on the session/trip.
